THEY - CASTING

short film

Below you will find the script, production info and character breakdowns for the roles we are casting for. The plan is to film the scenes over several days, helping to establish the timeframe of the story, but the 'secondary' roles will only be needed for that 1 particular day.

I pay £10 an hour as standard for all cast & crew, as well as providing food & drink on the day of filming, and travel expenses will be covered (but must be agreed upon beforehand).

If you have a question, feel free to ask upon application.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS

Role:

Playing range:

Time required:

Bio:

ALICIA / lead character

27-33 years old

Female

Any

Estimate 3 days (2/3 hours per day)

Alicia is a somewhat aware of wider social issues, but she is also quite naive. She listens to the people offering advice, but gradually her frustration builds - which I think is where the comedy is going to come from, especially when she explodes at the kid. Whilst it's a comedy, I would like the performance style to be quite natural

Role:

Playing range:

Gender:

Ethnicity:

Time required:

Bio:

TOM / the runner

40s

Male

Any

1 day (2/3 hours)

Tom is enjoying a leisurely run through the park - he just can't help himself but tell Alicia what they've got to say about the sandwich she is eating. Whilst he's wearing all the running gear, he doesn't have to be noticeably fit - if he isn't, the better!

Role:

Playing range:

Gender:

Ethnicity:

Time required:

Bio:

CANDICE / the pushchair mum

22-28 years old

Female

Any

1 day (2/3 hours)

A young mum who ignores her crying baby because she is too concerned with telling Alicia what they think gives you cancer. She is slightly aggressive in tone and comes across as quite intimidating

Role:

Playing range:

Gender:

Ethnicity:

Time required:

Bio:

MARIE / the work colleague

32-38 years old

Female

Any

1 day (2/3 hours)

Marie works in the same building as Alicia, and it's clear that they know each other. She gets her information on social and political issues from Netflix, and would be quick to change her eating habits based on a tweet or new 'in' blog

Role:

Playing range:

Gender:

Ethnicity:

Time required:

Bio:

ASHLEY + MUM (or DAD)

8-10 years old

35-55+ years old

Any

Any

1 day (2/3 hours)

Ashley is young and innocent, with a charming smile - the young actor must break our hearts when Alicia shouts at them. The Mum (or Dad) is noticeably concerned and shocked by Alicia's behaviour. We'd prefer to cast Ashley's real mum or dad in the role too, and no swearing will take place if requested

Role:

Playing range:

Gender:

Ethnicity:

Time required:

Bio:

TED / the guy who doesn't care

35-45 years old

Male

Any

1 day (2/3 hours)

Ted is someone who works in Alicia's building, but couldn't care less by what they have to say. The actor must be comfortable eating and drinking fatty, salty and sugary foods, and it's fine if they're a little over-weight due to lockdown :)
